Standard Operations#

Axis Constraints#

All operations allow constraining the axes on which the operators operate. Press X,Y or Z to only use that axis. Inversely, use Shift + X,Shift + Y or Shift + Z to constrain to all axes BUT the respective one.

During any operation the mouse will be constrained to the viewport and will wrap around the edges if you hit the edges.

All operations also support Type to Transform.

Global vs Local space#

To switch between global and local space press the constraint shortcut again. For example, when you constrained to rotating around the Z axis and you are currently in global space, press Z again to instead rotate around the selection’s local Z axis.

Translate#

Press G to translate the selection. In this mode the objects are parallel to the viewport plane unless the axes are constrained in which case they move along the axis or the constraint plane.

Rotate#

Press R to rotate the selection around the selection origin. In this mode the rotation is perpendicular to the viewport plane unless there is an axis constraint.

Arcball Mode#

Press R again while in rotation mode to enter arcball mode. In this mode the up/down and left/right movements of your cursor rotate the selection around the vertical and horizontal viewport axes respectively.

Scale#

Press S to scale the selection. The closer your cursor is to the selection the larger an impact your cursor movement will have. The direction of your cursor does not matter, even if the axes are constrained.
